Mathematics

In Years 7-10 the mathematics curriculum develops students' mathematical skills and knowledge in the following three content strands;

  • Number and Algebra
  • Measurement and Geometry and
  • Statistics and Probability

The Mathematics Department aims to provide engaging learning experiences which develop fluency, mathematical understanding, reasoning and problem solving. Students are encouraged to investigate, actively participate in their learning and demonstrate their mathematical understanding creatively. Digital technologies are used to explore mathematical ideas and facilitate learning. Students complete common assessment tasks to assist in monitoring progress and reporting.

In Years 9 and 10, Mathematics Extended is an elective designed for students who wish to broaden their mathematical interests. In Year 10, this elective focuses on greater academically inclined work linked to study areas in Years 11 and 12.

In Years 11 and 12, all TCE courses in Mathematics are offered.

In all year levels, students are given the opportunity to compete in the Mathematics Competition.
