Our College

St Brendan-Shaw College is a Catholic, co-educational secondary (Years 7 - 12) school welcoming students from the North West region of Tasmania. Established in 1960 as St. Brendan's College for Boys (by the Christian Brothers) it amalgamated with Shaw College for Girls (opened by the Sisters of St Joseph in 1969) in 1981. The College is located in Devonport on approximately 7 hectares overlooking Bass Strait.

Catholic Identity

Together with Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Primary School, Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School, St Patrick's Catholic Primary School, and Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Primary School we offer a K-12 Catholic education in Devonport and the surrounding regions.

St Brendan-Shaw College provides a seamless academic transition across the full spectrum of secondary education for Year 7 through to Year 12, including social and leadership development.

We seek to continue the vision that our founders, St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, Fr Julian Tenison Woods, and Blessed Edmund Rice, who began the Sisters of St Joseph and the Christian Brothers, to provide education to those in need, with an emphasis on the dignity of all.

Our Vision

Our vision for St Brendan-Shaw College is to be a vibrant centre of learning as a Catholic community seeking justice, hope and truth through faith and deed, light and knowledge.
