Principal's news

The female winter skirt in Years 7 - 10 will require change as the material for our current winter skirt has ceased production. We are taking this as an opportunity to consider what changes we could make to the uniform. Some principles that are being considered include, comfort for students and cost effectiveness for parents/guardians.

Changes that have been investigated are minimal (and, as always, there will be a period of transition where old and new uniforms are both able to be worn.)  Essentially, there is no change planned to the senior secondary uniform.

A sample skirt in lighter, comfortable, easy-wash material with a new plaid pattern (with the same style and cut) was brought to the College by Sue Fisher, Midford’s state coordinator. I gathered a random selection of female students yesterday to look at the sample. We are also considering allowing this combination to be worn all year, minus tights and tie in Terms 1 & 4.  When I suggested that we may not need a summer dress, they suggested that an optional dress for Terms 1 & 4 would be welcomed by some female students.

The new skirt clashes with the existing College tie, so we are leaning toward a new, plain (possibly) navy tie with a velcro quick-attach system that Midford have developed. The shirt remains blue but will be available in a cut to better suit females. This will be a short-sleeved, open collared shirt in a female cut. Our Blazer and jumper will not change.

Year 7 - 10 male uniforms would remain unchanged with the exception of the new tie.

Finally, as a cost-saver, I am considering including a uniform student bag.

We have asked for Sue Fisher to provide samples that we will place on display in the Caritas Reception when they arrive. This should be available from next term, but I am hopeful to be able to display ‘storyboards’ from next week.

Timelines:
There is limited stock of the existing winter skirt, so the new winter skirt and tie will be introduced in Term 2, 2021.

The new summer dress which is possibly going to be optional will be available for 2022.

Bags are already available, and I will seek feedback from parents before determining whether or not to make them compulsory.

Thanks and I will keep you in my prayers.
