A child's future is shaped by their experiences today. School is a pathway that determines what they do, where they go, and how they get there. A St Brendan-Shaw College Scholarship can allow your child to develop their education and talents and thrive.

Each year, St Brendan-Shaw College offers outstanding young adults the opportunity to apply for a Scholarship. As part of the Scholarship program, students will receive part remission (50%) of tuition fees.

General Information

Scholarships are designed to provide opportunities to students who are academically well-rounded and who embody College values. As such, the successful applicant must be motivated to join our values-based community and fully involve themselves in the life of the College.

Eligibility & Pre-requisites

For Enrolment Scholarships, it is a requirement that an Application for Enrolment at St Brendan-Shaw College is submitted prior to lodging a Scholarship Application.

Internal Scholarships are on offer to current students who will be enrolled in Years 10-11 in 2025.

Selection

The Scholarship candidates will be selected based on the assessment of the following criteria where appropriate:

  • Completion of the Application Form.
  • Supplementary information and copies of required documents attached with the completed application.
  • Additional supporting information or folio presented at interview (Sport, Music and Art).
  • Demonstrate a high level of genuine interest and commitment in their chosen field.
  • Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the College and the College’s decision is final.

Process for Awarding Scholarships

  1. A Scholarship Committee is responsible for reviewing academic results, applications, and audition/interview results.
  2. A short list is established.
  3. Shortlisted students and parents invited to an interview.
  4. A scholarship may be awarded based on the outcome of the interview.

What is the value of the scholarships?

Scholarships come in the form of part remission of tuition fees. Scholarships are 50% of tuition fees. In some instances, Scholarships of lesser value may be offered. The School reserves the right to withhold a Scholarship (in any Year or discipline) if there are no candidates of sufficient merit. What is the length and tenure of scholarships?

Scholarships are subject to an annual formal review by the College in light of progress, performance, and attitude of the holder. It should be noted, however, that holders of scholarships could normally expect the scholarship to continue for the remainder of their education at the College.

How many scholarships are offered?

This varies from year to year. Approximately 10 Scholarships are offered across the areas of Academic, Music, Leadership, Art, and Sport.

A letter or email will notify candidates of their application status as soon as possible.

How do I fill out the PDF form?

Scholarship Application Forms may be downloaded and filled electronically using Acrobat PDF. We recommend using a desktop computer to complete the filling of form fields electronically, then save and print a hard copy to sign. 

The forms may also be printed and filled in hard copy. Hard copies are available from Caritas Reception for those who do not have access to printing facilities.

How to save a filled-out PDF form in a Chrome browser. 

To save a filled-out PDF form using the Chrome browser:

  1. Fill out the form online in the Chrome browser.
  2. Navigate to the Chrome browser’s control buttons — three stacked dots in the top-right corner.
  3. Select the Print function.
  4. Use the dropdown selector to the right of the Destination field. Choose and click Save as PDF.
  5. Navigate to the location you’d like to save the form and click Save again.
